Köping Basket exploded for 31 points in the fourth quarter to break open a tense basketball game and go on to defeat Västerås 85-61 Sunday at KB-hallen.
The win evens Köping’s record at 4-4 in Norra Svealand’s Division 2 standings and ties them for fourth with Aros.
The two teams played to a 36-36 tie in the first half as Luka Babic poured in 14 points including two three pointers. Ghaith Kayali added three three-pointers.
Köping started to pull away in the third as Simon Klaasma began to find his rhythm scoring nine of his 21 points. With Köping leading 54-49 entering the fourth, Abbas Ibrahim opened the scoring with a three pointer and the floodgates opened. Sarunas Maniokas was a key factor in the second half surge for Köping grabbing several rebounds and scoring eight points.
