The Köping Basket men’s Div. 2 team opened the 2018/2019 season with a hard-earned, come-from-behind road victory, beating Aros in Västerås 68-65, Saturday afternoon.

Köping trailed by as many as eight points in the first quarter but clawed their way back into the game to take a 37-35 halftime lead.

Aros came out with more intensity in the third quarter and regained the lead, 54-48 entering the final quarter.

Again, Köping battled back, outscoring Aros 20-11 in the fourth quarter, and holding off a furious charge by Aros with seconds to go to earn the win.

Köping guard Simon Klaasma led the way with 22 points while Luka Babic added 19 points and Wictor Sundh 12. Ghaith Kayali hit two big three-point shots late in the game while Johan Gustafsson scored 5 points and William Sundh 4.

Next game for Köping is Saturday, September 29 at 12:15 at Karlbergshallen against the Husby Lions. The game precedes the Koping Stars opening SBL game against Luleå.
